Diversity Advisory Council
The Diversity Advisory Council (DAC) is an SBA-organized committee devised to bring together representatives from the Law School’s affinity groups for monthly discussions. During monthly meetings, affinity group representatives utilize time to update each other on upcoming events and initiatives, and foster discussion on ongoing issues at their organizations face at the Law School. In addition, this space is intended to foster relationships and communication between the affinity groups and their representatives, and the Student Bar Association. SBA Initiatives
The 2022-2023 SBA Executive Board is dedicated to, and focused on, advancing initiatives designed to build a more inclusive experience for all UVA Law students. As a part of SBA's new initiatives, the organization provided snacks for fasting students throughout the month of Ramadan, simultaneously collecting donations for Save the Children, an organization which provides aid to Afghan refugees and their families. Additionally, SBA is working with the Office of Student Affairs to stock menstrual products in the bathrooms throughout the entirety of the Law School during the upcoming academic year. SBA will also continue to working with Law School administration to add more gender-neutral bathrooms to the building and enhance the overall accessibility of the Law School to disabled individuals. Dean Jefferson is the Law School's inaugural Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Belonging, and uses his role to both strengthen community and serve as a resource for students.
